Twenty-seven mourners were arrested after they were filmed spinning cars and shooting in the air at a burial in Pionierspark cemetery in Namibia.

A video of the rare spectacle was widely shared online as friends of the deceased paid tribute to his life.

The deceased, Valdo Lee Namaseb, was an elite member of the community.

His friends were arrested after the burial for violating Covid-19 rules.

They are expected to be presented in court on Monday.

The government in Namibia has tightened restrictions as Covid cases in the country rise.

The country has one of the worst daily death rates from coronavirus in the continent.
